How Consigning with Truly Thrifty Works

At Truly Thrifty, we want consigning to be simple, transparent, and rewarding. Whether you're cleaning out your closet, downsizing your home, or looking to earn extra money from items you no longer need, we're here to help.

Before consigning with us, here's what you need to know about how our program works.

What Items Do We Accept?

We accept a variety of quality items, including:

- Women's clothing and accessories

- Men's clothing and accessories

- Children's clothing and accessories

- Books

- Home Decor

- Other approved items

To give your items the best chance of selling, we ask that all items be:

- Clean and ready for resale

-  Free from strong odors, stains, excessive wear, pet hair, mold, or damage

- In good, functional condition

- Authentic and legally owned by you

Please note that we reserve the right to decline items that do not meet our standards.

How Long Are My Items Consigned?

Items are consigned with Truly Thrifty for 120 days from the date they are listed for sale.

This gives your items plenty of time to be seen by shoppers and find the right buyer.

What Happens If My Items Don't Sell?

If your items remain unsold at the end of the 120-day consignment period, you'll have 14 days after notification to arrange pickup or shipping.

Items not claimed within that timeframe may be considered abandoned and may be:

- Donated 

- Disposed of

- Relisted

- Retained by Truly Thrifty

We strongly encourage consignors to keep their contact information updated and respond promptly when notified.

Can I Pick Up My Items Early?

Yes. However, if you request the return of your items before the end of the consignment period, an early pickup fee of $0.50 per item will apply.

How Are Prices Determined?

Our team prices items based on several factors, including:

- Brand

- Condition

- Market demand

- Current trends

- Seasonality

To maximize the chance of a sale, we may adjust pricing, run promotions, or apply discounts when appropriate.

How Do Consignor Payments Work?

When an item sells, all applicable fees are deducted first. These may include:

- Payment processing fees

- Marketplace fees 

- Shipping expenses

- Return-related costs

- Promotional discounts

After those costs have been deducted, the remaining balance is split:

50% to the Consignor
50% to Truly Thrifty

When Will I Get Paid?

Payments are available upon request once:

- The buyer's payment has cleared

- Any applicable return period has ended

- The transaction has been finalized

Payment Options

We currently offer payment by:

- Check

- Store Credit

Using Store Credit

Many of our consignors love shopping with us!

Once your funds are available, you may choose to convert them into store credit. Please note:

- Store credit is non-refundable

- Store credit cannot be converted back into cash or a check once issued

Our easy-to-use Consignment Portal gives you 24/7 access to your account information. You can quickly view the items you've consigned, track what's sold, monitor your available balance, and see how much money you've earned—all in one convenient place. No waiting for updates; your consignment information is always just a few clicks away.

Do You Use Photos of My Items?

Yes. By consigning with us, you give Truly Thrifty permission to photograph and promote your items.

Photos and videos may be used on:

- Our website

- Social media platforms

- Online marketplaces                                                                                       

- Digital and print advertising

- Marketing Materials 

This helps us reach more shoppers and increase the likelihood of a sale.

What About Returns?

We reserve the right to handle returns and customer service issues as needed.

If an item is returned, it may be relisted for sale and any associated payout may be adjusted accordingly.
